Position Overview:Ecogy is seeking a Business Development Manager to join our national sales & origination team. The Business Development Manager's priority is to originate, develop and execute solar, wind & battery storage projects for customers in specific territories across the U.S.. They will manage strategic client relationships with insightful solar consultation and customer servicing throughout from first origination all the way through to commercial operation. Candidates must have prior solar sales experience structuring high-value project transactions and portfolio transactions, building long-standing relationships resulting in repeat business, and have experience leading internal project teams. The position will report directly to the Director of Development. The Business Development Manager will be supported by the operations, engineering, construction, business development, marketing and policy teams at Ecogy Energy to provide our partners with turnkey distributed generation offerings.Responsibilities:Develop and maintain new and existing relationships with property owners as well as energy/facility/property managers, leading to solar, wind and storage project exploration and PPA/Site Lease execution.Originate new accounts, contacts and opportunities through (but not limited to) cold calling, email campaigns, targeted marketing, networking and participating in trade shows and conferences, etc.Work closely with clients to understand and manage substantive issues around financial, legal, energy, technical and tax aspects of solar and storage projects Provide customers market insight & strategy of how Ecogy will bring these projects to fruitionAbility to manage a robust pipeline of projects using Salesforce through origination and development stages of the sales cycle maintaining consistent volume and balance across project types, markets, customer types and project sizesMonitor market conditions across in core markets by participating in industry policy groups, maintaining relationships with policy stakeholders and staying abreast of market changes & news; utilize internal tools and resources to stay informed on other national solar marketsLead RFP responses in close-coordination with internal support teams across a variety of clients and different offeringsWork with project development, financing and legal teams to negotiate and close project contracts such as Power Purchase Agreements and Site Lease AgreementsFoster an environment of genuine interest in impact on sustainability as well as a cohesive teamwork that delivers best-in-class service and superior results to clientsQualifications:Prior Business Development experience and preferably a track record of commercial and community solar project sales Track-record of successfully negotiating and executing complex third-party owned project transactionsComprehensive understanding of project and structured financeStrong communication, negotiation and presentation skillsCommanding understanding of relevant solar policies, trends, utility incentives and state incentives in the Northeast Ability to structure complex multi-site, multi-market project portfoliosSalesforce experience and ability create reports and dashboardsAbility to continuously prioritize high-value tasks, opportunities and processes to maintain project momentumDemonstrated ability to lead and participate in interdisciplinary teams while clearly communicating sales objectives and strategy2-5+ years of experience in solar/renewable energy industryProficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPointSuccessful track record in a complex sales or project development environment, preferably in energy storage, and/or solar. By "complex sales" we mean large, technical, construction and/or financial products with long sales cycles, that require relationship building, lead generation, navigation of complexity, and deal closing.Understanding of key quantitative business concepts, including both probabilistic thinking and financial metrics (NPV, IRR, etc).
