Company : Black & Veatch Corporation Req Id : 85979 Opportunity Type : Staff Relocation eligible : No Full time/Part time : Full-Time Project Only Hire : Yes Visa Sponsorship Available: No Job Summary The Lead Air Sciences Specialist position is an experienced-level role with our Environmental team for a qualified professional with a desire to support environmental and air quality initiatives and compliance for industrial clients, while working for a global infrastructure consulting and engineering company. Our multidisciplinary Environmental team includes ecologists, engineers, scientists, project managers, and attorneys working together to identify optimum environmental solutions for our clients. We have provided environmental consulting services in support of projects for over 40 years including a diverse and growing mix of facilities such as power generation and transmission, oil & gas pipelines and ocean terminals, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and all forms of renewable and distributed energy including solar, wind, wave, geothermal, hydroelectric, and battery storage. As a full-service environmental consulting practice, services include impact assessment and planning, permitting and regulatory compliance, wetland and floodplain analysis, waterbody and water quality assessment, air quality permitting and management, environmental noise assessment, pollution prevention planning, National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) documentation, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) documentation, International Financing Act documentation, and sustainability consulting services. The Lead Air Sciences Specialist position provides an exciting opportunity to join B&V's Environmental team. Key Responsibilities Our Air Sciences Specialists operate both independently and as part of a team in providing critical support to our clients in environmental compliance planning, environmental permitting, and environmental review services. They perform in both a technical role executing projects as well as a client-focused role fostering relationships with clients and promoting environmental services offerings. The Air Sciences Specialist will complete tasks associated with air permitting compliance and overall environmental compliance, with a large focus on industrial facilities. Prior experience with environmental compliance reporting and environmental data management for large, complex facilities will be necessary to assist industrial clients with transforming and automating environmental compliance requirements by way of enhanced data acquisition systems. The Air Sciences Specialist will have prior experience performing regulatory reviews of federal and state performance standards for industrial processes and be comfortable working with facility personnel to improve processes related to compliance obligations. Prior experience with programs including but not limited to greenhouse gas reporting, annual emission inventories, CERLCA, and TRI reporting preferred. Preferred Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in atmospheric science, meteorology, environmental engineering or sciences strongly preferred. May also consider other degrees, specialized training, or experience that uniquely qualifies the individual to perform the job responsibilities. + Proven success providing strategic environmental consulting for industrial clients, power generation clients, oil & gas clients, water and wastewater treatment clients, and/or municipalities. + 5+ years of solutions-oriented environmental consulting and/or compliance management. Graduate work may count as related work experience if directly applicable to job function. + Prior experience with GHG reporting, emission inventories, CERCLA, TRI reporting. + Must be able to research and interpret federal, state and local regulations. + Experience managing air permitting compliance within an industrial facility (with prior experience with pulp and paper mills advantageous). + Experience with implementation and/or use of data acquisition systems and managing high volumes of data. + Positive, team-first, 'get the job done' attitude. + Highly-developed critical thinking skills with proven problem-solving capabilities. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to balance multiple projects while working under tight deadlines. + Strong technical writing abilities.
