Description

The Measurement Specialist reports directly to the Measurement Manager and is responsible for design, installation, operation, and maintenance of measurement equipment to assure accurate and reliable measurement for the company. This is an advanced-level position for employees with a minimum 8+ years of natural gas measurement related experience.

* Schedule and complete all required calibration tests on time, and when required coordinate these activities with Producer customers.
* Collect gas and liquid samples on time, and when required coordinate these activities with Producer customers.
* Perform routine and preventative maintenance on Electronic Flow Meters (EFMs), primary measurement devices, gas chromatographs, continuous samplers, and related equipment.
* Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on Electronic Flow Meters (EFMs), primary measurement devices, gas chromatographs, continuous samplers, and related equipment.
* Review and evaluate flow data to determine the need for orifice plate changes and size, to increase accuracy of the measurement data, and ensure that differential pressures are within desired limits.
* Clean and inspect meter tubes as necessary
* Test pressure equipment (worker device), including valves, transmitters, etc. as required.
* Test OPP equipment, including valves, transmitters, etc. as required.
* Troubleshoot and maintain AC & DC power systems, including solar.
* Operate and maintain various gas quality analyzers (O2, H2O, H2S, etc.)
* Perform installation and commissioning on Electronic Flow Meters (EFMs), primary measurement devices, gas chromatographs, continuous samplers, and related equipment.
* Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs on Electronic Flow Meters (EFMs), primary measurement devices, gas chromatographs, continuous samplers, and related equipment.
* Rebuild meter fittings, samplers, GC's, and miscellaneous equipment as necessary.
* Install, troubleshoot, and maintain AC & DC power systems, including solar.
* Install, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain various gas quality analyzers (O2, H2O, H2S, etc.)
* Install, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain radio and cellular communications equipment
* Basic EFM programing, including setting up meter stations, meter tubes, gas analysis, and mod-bus data communications.
* Commissioning and startup of gas measurement equipment and Field Measurement sites.
* Witness 3rd party liquid meter proving for both BRM meters as well as 3rd party custody meters.
* Witness truck scale and LACT unit calibrations and proving's.
* Install, troubleshoot, test, and maintain Densitometers, Pycnometers, and associated equipment.
* Install, troubleshoot, test, and maintain OPP equipment, including valves, transmitters, etc. as required.
* Advanced EFM programing, including setting up meter stations, meter tubes, gas analysis, mod-bus data communications, and the ability to comprehend, decipher, and write logic (FST) programming.
* Commissioning and startup of gas and liquid measurement equipment.
* Commissioning and startup of Plant and Field Measurement sites.
* Supervise and direct contractor activities in the completion, commissioning, and startup of field and plant sites.
* Plan, manage, and oversee large Measurement projects in the field and plants.
* Audit and spot check 3rd party laboratories in accordance with SOP's and industry standards.
* Audit and spot check 3rd party fabricators and contractors in accordance with SOP's and industry standards.
* Participate in Measurement skid and equipment design and evaluation.
* Review and evaluate measurement balances and find causes of discrepancies and system imbalances.
* Conceptualize and implement department programs to enhance measurement accuracy and inter-department effectiveness.
* Other duties as assigned.

Skills:

* Basic computer skills, such as emailing, saving, copying, moving, finding files, as required to utilize specialized software to interface with Electronic Flow Meters (EFMs), Gas Chromatographs, and other related equipment.
* Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
* Ability to read, comprehend and apply information in O&M and equipment manuals.
* Analytical and abstract thinking skills and ability to quickly process information and solve problems.
* Conscientious individual who strives for excellence and continuously seeks improvement in systems and procedures, dedicated to the profitability of the Company within stringent legal and ethical standards.
* Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet scheduled deadlines.

* The ability to understand meter schematics, pipeline flow characteristics, and to have a fundamental knowledge of field and pipeline operations

* Ability to read, comprehend and apply information in industry white papers and standards.

Job Requirements:

* Minimum 8 years of natural gas measurement related experience.
* Self-motivated and able to work day-to-day independently in a field and plant setting, with minimal direct supervision while upholding the highest ethical standards.
* Available by phone to be dispatched to measurement issues or emergencies as needed.
* Willing and available to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
* Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and 50 pounds from floor to waist.
* Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells, carry up to 50 pounds and to see, hear, walk, and talk effectively.
* Operating Company-owned vehicle in safe and responsible manner.
* Successfully complete the BRM Safety Boot Camp and Defensive Driver Training courses.
* Must be able to comprehend and perform all work safely following Company Policies, Industry Practices, established department SOP's.
* High School diploma or GED
