The Quality Leader is key to maximizing the performance of the Mining, Minerals and Metals Business Line (BL). The Quality Leader will report directly to the BL Discipline Leader and is responsible for promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement while providing the tools, resources, and data to ensure that the Stantec Quality Management System (QMS) is being properly implemented to achieve ISO and client requirements, while enhancing our competitiveness in the Mining, Minerals and Metals BL. The Quality Leader will partner with the Energy BL Quality leader, and work closely with other members of the Mining, Minerals and Metals Discipline Leadership team.
The home office for this role can be in any location in North America where the Mining Business Line has a presence.
Your Key Responsibilities
Promote a culture of quality interdependence within the Mining, Minerals and Metals BL where proactivity and continuous improvement are fundamental in the execution of projects. Assist in the development of teams where values are "we follow our system because we want to" instead of "we follow our system because we have to".
Establish, implement, and maintain the processes and tools needed to monitor QMS implementation and effectiveness, including auditing, data analysis, trending, reporting, and continuous improvement. This includes monitoring and assisting in the use of the Corrective Action and Preventative Action system, the corporate Lessons Learned platform, as well as the audit system.
Promote awareness of how quality principles and tools can be used to trigger business improvements which reduce risk, enhance customer satisfaction, improve retention, and enhance our competitiveness in the Mining, Minerals and Metals industry.
Collaborate with the Energy Quality Leader to initiate strategic objectives/tactics for quality in the Mining, Minerals and Metals BL, to align the BL with the Energy & Resources BOU.
Proactively work with the Discipline Leadership team to identify risk areas with respect to quality and assist in the development and implementation of action plans to address these areas.
Serve as the liaison between the Mining, Minerals and Metals BL Discipline Leadership team and the designated BC Quality Management Representatives. Assist with keeping proper focus on quality issues that speak to Stantec core values or directly relate to current strategic objectives. Assist with monitoring quality resources in each BC and ensure that both internal and external (client facing) services are executed with efficiency and "fit for purpose" in mind.
Ensure consistency in quality messaging across the BL and BOU, in collaboration with the Energy Quality Leader.
Liaise with the Stantec Corporate quality team and Mining, Minerals and Metals office locations to schedule audits to maintain our ISO 9001 certification.
Liaise with clients and others in the Mining, Minerals and Metals industry to align BL quality program expectations with client and industry requirements.
Coordinate or directly lead Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and technical case studies and help the DL team make informed decisions to improve operations.
Assist the DL and Business Development teams in interpreting results from client feedback surveys and consider what quality process improvements can be made that will be recognized directly by our clients.
Work with the DL team, Stantec corporate quality team and the risk review team to exchange and communicate key messages.
Develop and deliver quality related training across the BL as required.
Maximize our Quality Program, in partnership with the Project Delivery Practice Leader and Senior PMCL, to provide accurate feedback and develop action plans to utilize the positive results across the BL and to proactively address the opportunities for improvement.
Identify and resolve project execution gaps, either based on individuals, structure, processes, or systems, in collaboration with RBLs and BC Leaders. Implement improvements to work processes, policies, and procedures at every opportunity to enhance project execution, control, and monitoring.
Lead the maintenance and organization of the Mining, Minerals and Metals BL policies and procedures.
Achieve utilization target as agreed annually with DL and BL. Initial expectation for utilization in the range of 50-60%.
Support projects with quality management plan preparation and review, and participate in projects when required, liaising with client quality teams.
Support key pursuits by promoting the value of Stantec quality systems and services within our projects, ensuring our proposals include up to date and relevant quality management presentations.
Meet BL individual role based KPIs for leading indicators and safety training.
Maintain and enhance our reputation with clients, approval agencies and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
A minimum of 10 years' experience working on multidisciplinary engineering projects.
Passion for exceptional project execution, process, and continuous improvement.
Strong leader and team player, collaborator, and communicator with good people skills.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, with a practical approach to problem solving, with proven judgement.
Advanced understanding of Stantec Project Management Framework.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills to effectively work and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external customers. Demonstrated ability to champion both project and customer services excellence with conviction and purpose.
Comfortable presenting in front of large groups.
Ability to drive change and deliver positive impact through influence.
Ability to travel to US, Canadian and Global offices and client sites, as required.
Familiarity with Stantec Mining, Minerals and Metals BL service offerings and client base is preferred.
Education and Experience
A minimum of 10 years' experience working on multidisciplinary engineering projects.

Hiring Salary Range: $108,200 - $151,800 - Colorado locations only. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
