The Strategic Planning Office seeks a Research Analyst Intern for Spring and Summer 2022 Semesters (beginning January 2021):

  • Perform research and analysis on prioritized topics
    • Plan and execute research projects
    • Perform research, collect data, and synthesize findings from publicly available external resources, including: industry publications, academic research, market sources, and government reports
    • Organize and maintain research files
    • Identify and recommend specific subject matter expert interviews opportunities
  • Perform ongoing review and tracking of identified industry trends key developments
    • Federal, state, and local policies, legislation, and grant funding opportunities
    • New technologies performance and/or cost improvements
    • Peer utilities responses: public plans, filings, communications, new programs
  • Support the Strategic Planning Office in staffing subject matter expert interviews and meetings; summarize key discussion points, decisions, and action-items
  • Develop professional, succinct research reports, summarizing findings, conclusions, and recommended next steps for selected topics
  • Prepare and provide presentations on research projects and key findings
  • Perform other duties as assigned and special projects utilizing specific skill-sets or areas of expertise


    • Graduate student preferred; Junior or Senior Undergraduate with relative experience accepted.
    • Working towards a degree in a Business Administration, Public Administration/Management/Policy, Economics, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, or related field, in good academic standing
    • Must have strong research, and verbal and written communication skills; with the ability to read, grasp, understand, compile, analyze, and summarize information in a methodical manner.
    • Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence others in the best interest of PGW while maintaining professional effective business relationships
    • Must have problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
    • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently, take initiative to solve problems and complete tasks as they arise, and exercise sound business judgment
    • Must have organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and usually under short deadlines.
    • Academic and/or practical knowledge of the energy industry a plus
    • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
    • Must be able to commit at least 15-20 hours weekly
