Gas Operations activities include engineering, construction, maintenance and safe operation of approximately 5,700 miles of gas transmission pipelines and 42,000 miles of gas distribution pipelines serving 4.4 million gas customers located throughout northern and central California. Position Summary PG is currently recruiting OQ Evaluators in California. This position is responsible for evaluating Operator Qualifications (OQ) tasks, using various methods, in testing room, hands-on and field settings. Support operational workgroups with qualifications of personnel performing DOT-regulated pipeline covered tasks, in compliance with federal and applicable state pipeline safety regulatory requirements.Successful candidate can be based out of Sacramento, Chico, or Santa Rosa area.Job Responsibilities: Perform OQ Evaluations of covered tasks in a centralized, system wide program that assesses current and future competency needs for a qualified workforce. Identify and Document any gaps in the OQ program and process for current and future needs, provide recommendations to Operator Qualifications and training departments Evaluate and provide strategy to implement ways of increasing efficiency within the OQ project plan and program Interact closely with district leadership to identify, track and upload OQ requirements by site. Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives aimed at OQ Program Improvement. Travel to various testing locations throughout PG's service territory and overnight stays are required based on logistics, workload and resource needs. Work may involve cutting, grinding, and use of hydraulic press to perform destructive testing of welds or plastic fusion coupons. Observe and evaluate manual skills performance in an objective and consistent manner. Prepare, organize and submit OQ task documentation. Collaborate with business partners and internal or external subject matter experts. Other duties and special projects, as assigned. The work environment can vary and may include a controlled office setting, and/or exposure to outside elements. This position includes but is not limited to significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, in general can be physically demanding.Qualifications-Minimum: 5 years of experience in respective technical trade. Travel 60%- 85% of the time. May be required to lift 80 pounds. High School Diploma or GED.Desired: 3-5 years of progressive experience in Operator Qualifications program and process with a focus on program management and regulatory compliance 5+ years' experience in Gas operations or construction performing DOT covered tasks Working Knowledge of PHMSA standards and 49 CFR Part 192 Subpart N and CFR Part 195 Subpart G Familiarity with administration and systems requirements for implementing and managing compliance-based programs Excellent computer and analytical problem-solving abilities
