Position Overview:

* Join one of the world's Leading suppliers of wind power solutions, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy as a Traveling Troubleshooting Technician!

* This position is responsible for planning, performing, and reporting on various troubleshooting tasks, turbine inspections, and component repairs. This position is also responsible for troubleshooting support on all components associated with the wind turbine. 95% travel from site-to-site is required. The Traveling Troubleshooting Technician will interface with clients and manage small crews on a regular basis. They are expected to be able to lead and manage their projects with minimal supervision.

* They could also be required to support other jobs within the Advanced Maintenance, Heavy lifts, Major Campaigns, and Blades teams.

* Relocation will not be offered for this role.

Responsibilities:

* Ability to work in confined / enclosed space and comfortable with heights.

* Inspections (borescope) of drivetrain components (main shaft + bearings, gearbox + gears + bearings).

* Gearbox repairs - high speed bearings, high speed shafts, intermediate speed bearings, mechanical pump.

* Assist in troubleshooting of drivetrain related issues (pumps, sensors, brakes, cooling unit, filters, etc.).

* Assist in large corrective (crane work) replacement of gearboxes and main shafts.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills to describe complex damages, participate in preparation of inspection and repair reports, and follow up to final resolution.

* Knowledge of maintenance and electrical testing equipment for turbines.

* Test electrical components and systems, as well as mechanical and hydraulic systems.

* Perform maintenance on wind turbine equipment including troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic malfunctions. Replace worn or malfunctioning components.

* Support Advanced Maintenance group with various projects, including large and small correctives on a variety of components.

* Identify process improvements; including reduction of non-value added operations, increased productivity opportunities, increased safety opportunities, etc.

* Inspect, diagnose, adjust, and repair components in the wind turbine. Inspect the exterior and physical integrity of towers and blades.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience and Abilities

* Must have minimum of 1yr experience in a mechanical, electrical or industrial field

* Technician must be able to work within the maximum safety guidelines using personal protection equipment.

* Basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, diagnostic tools and equipment.

* Must be willing to travel for extended periods of time - up to 95%

* Perform other duties - Safe, team-oriented work habits are essential.

* High school diploma or equivalent

* Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less as required by the safety regulations

* Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform the job functions and meet the physical demands of the position

* Must pass pre-hire background drug screening

* Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States. Qualified applicants will not require employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States

Preferred Knowledge/ Skills, Education, and Experience

* Certification from a Renewable Energy or Wind Technical Program

* Hands on work experience as a Wind Technician on a Wind Farm

* Relevant work experience e.g. electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, maintenance/troubleshooting in a military, industrial or automotive industry
